What is an ECHS Polyclinic?
An ECHS Polyclinic is the primary healthcare facility where ECHS beneficiaries — ex-servicemen, war widows, and their dependents — go for outpatient consultation, routine check-ups, medicine dispensing, and referrals for specialist or hospital treatment. Polyclinics are classified into five types (A to E) based on the number of beneficiaries they serve, and are either co-located with military hospitals or set up independently in towns to improve reach.
Each Polyclinic is headed by an Officer-in-Charge (OIC), usually a retired medical officer, and operates under the administrative control of the local Station Commander, in coordination with its Regional Centre. For most day-to-day healthcare needs — from a routine prescription refill to a referral for a specialist — the Polyclinic is your first point of contact, not the Regional Centre.
This tool lets you find the contact number, email, and address of the ECHS Polyclinic nearest to you, so you can confirm timings, ask about referrals, or resolve queries directly.
How to Use This Tool?

Frequently Asked Questions
What services does an ECHS Polyclinic provide?
Polyclinics provide outpatient consultation, routine check-ups, medicine dispensing for common ailments, and referrals to ECHS empanelled hospitals for specialist treatment, surgery, or diagnostics not available at the Polyclinic.
Do I need to visit the Polyclinic before going to a hospital?
Yes, for planned/non-emergency treatment. Referrals to empanelled hospitals are issued by the Polyclinic. In genuine emergencies, you can go directly to a hospital, but the Polyclinic must be informed within 48 hours.
What documents should I carry to the Polyclinic?
Carry your valid ECHS smart card. Without it, the Polyclinic may not be able to register you for consultation or issue a referral.
Can I get medicines for a chronic condition for more than 30 days at a time?
Yes, for patients with chronic diseases, medicines can be issued for longer than the standard 30-day supply, based on the treating doctor’s assessment.
What if my nearest Polyclinic doesn't have the specialist I need?
The Polyclinic can issue a referral to an ECHS empanelled hospital or a higher-type Polyclinic that offers the required specialty.
Who do I contact if I have a complaint about my Polyclinic?
You can raise the issue with the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Polyclinic directly, and escalate to the Regional Centre if it remains unresolved.
