After Agniveer service, you have many options. You can apply for government jobs like CAPF, BSF, CRPF, or State Police — these have reserved seats for Agniveers. You can study further using IGNOU or other universities. You can learn a new skill like Tally, electrician work, or driving. You can also start your own business using your Seva Nidhi money.
Your Seva Nidhi is about Rs 11.71 lakh, and you get it tax-free. You can use it to start a small business. You can also save it safely in an FD or PPF account. Some people use half for business and keep half safe. Think about your plan before deciding.
IGNOU has a special course for Agniveers. It gives you credit for the training you already did in service. This means you finish your degree faster. You can study through distance learning while you are still serving, without attending regular classes.
Some skills get jobs fast and are in demand everywhere, not just big cities. These include Tally and GST (accounting), Excel, security guard training, electrician and HVAC work, heavy vehicle driving, and healthcare assistant courses. These courses are short and cost less money too.
CAPF and Assam Rifles now give 50% seats to Ex-Agniveers. This changed from 10% earlier. For State Police, it is different in each state. UP, Haryana, Delhi, and some other states give 20%. Some states give 10%. A few states have not announced anything yet. This reservation is inside your own category, like OBC or SC.
Most jobs for Agniveers, like CAPF and State Police, use the SSC GD exam. Check ssc.gov.in for the latest notice. Keep your discharge certificate, service record, and marksheets ready as scanned copies. As an Ex-Agniveer, you usually do not need to give the physical test again.
